I don't know where the tippy impression came from, with the first review--this thing was incredibly stable--maybe they weren't used to the secondary stability (it is somewhat like a kayak on the bottom). This canoe with the back rests is a joy for fishing and just cruising along. Much better canoes out there. With that said it is a little "tippy" it is easy to get close to tipping but it is still hard to roll completely over if you are alert/sober.
